Pretty nice, eh?
Next I drove to Columbus to pick up my sister, then off to a state wildlife area by Portage, WI. Different location than last week, a bit wilder too. There is a series of 7 geocaches in the location, we managed to walk to 5 of them. There are no real trails to follow, just some game trails. Didn't take that many photos either as not much was catching my eye.
All the geocache containers were the ammo-box variety. Hiding spots looked mostly like this.

There was some scenery. One geocache was on a hillslope overlooking a marshland

A dead animal skull.

This is primarily land for hunting, and a hunter was here when we arrived. Later on some people set up at the gravel pit on the land and began target shooting too. With all the gunshots, My sister and I decided to just stop after the 5th geocache find and forget the last 2 here. We did drive to another location by Pardeeville to find another geocache I thought had an interesting story behind it. Didn't get any good photo ops though. Only walked around 2.7 miles on the day, but they were pretty tough miles through tall grass, prickers, and poison ivy in spots. The leaves are turning color early this year, I need to think of where to visit in the coming weeks to get good photos of that.
