2010 Crazylegs Classic, Madison, Wisconsin

No nature hikes or geocaches this weekend. The last couple of weeks actually were a bit of a warm-up for this event, the 29th annual Crazylegs Classic. For the 2nd year in a row, my sister and I did the 2 mile walk portion of the event, and joined by my sister's daughter this year. Last year we were pounded by pouring rain the entire time, this year it just threatened rain and held off.

This won't be a post with artistically composed photos. I basically could just take snapshots with my pocket-sized Nikon Coolpix 2200.

Lined up prior to 10am for the start. This is at the intersection of State and Mifflin streets on the Capitol square. We got near the front of the pack among the speed walkers this year.

A kind stranger helped take our picture at the starting line.

A sea of people behind us waiting to go.

The camera stayed in my pocket at the start, and I was busy just trying to keep up with the girls. It was past the half-way point that I started to walk and take photos at the same time.

Getting close, that's the Camp Randall Memorial park next to Camp Randall Stadium.

Rounding the corner towards the stadium entrance.

Onto the football field

Official time was just a couple of seconds under 27 minutes. Might have been 26:20 if LuAnne had not stopped to get a complimentary packet of beef jerky at the stadium entrance. (lol) That's for 2 miles, so the overall average is in excess of 4 miles per hour.

A quick photo at the end

One of Megan up in the stands as I drank my beer watching all the thousands of entrants finish.

The west stands filled up as we were entertained by a rock band.
