I had a couple of geocaches in mind to find within the Token Creek Conservancy. Honestly, I have driven by this place countless times and never realized it was public land (since 1999). I was eager to explore the place, and with the nice weather this seems like the time.
The driveway and parking area are very frozen over with ice yet. Would have been challenging to get here in an average automobile. No problem for my Wrangler.
I'm all by myself, so I better heed the sign and not drown.
The first of 2 geocaches in this conservancy is about 200 feet from my parking place
It is supposed to be among the rocks visible to the right of this artisan spring, but I did not find. Turned over lots of rocks and looked inside many holes.
Well, there is another geocache to find about 1/2 mile away. Maybe I'll have better luck with that. A few sights along the walk.
And here's the next geocache-site.
Walked all around, dug in the brush, dug in the snow, looked high, looked low. No see 'um ammo-box geocache. I know I'm out of practice lately, but really.
Well, this just gives me incentive to return here in the spring after the snow melts. I was nursing a sore back in the days before this walk, and it was getting tired stomping through the snow. Time to go back and save the rest of the exploring for later. Some more photos on the walk out.
That is all solid ice there, I 4-wheeled it out easily.
The round trip measured just about 2 miles of walking and a little over 2 hours. There was a lot of time digging around for those darn geocaches. Here's the overview of the walk.
